Glad you got it--the bolt head makes no difference--
The motor must have "some" movement, as it is a "gear motor" and has some 'gear lash" built in. If the alignment problem is solved, I would guess the motor and gear alignment is fine--- Ron Rich

That's right Ron, before loosening any bolts at all I tried to move the motor with my hands and without too much force it did change position. I guess that sudden jolt as it stops over time had moved it. Most UK hardware stores don't sell this bolt type, I found the correct size bolt but the wrong thread in B&Q (big UK "DIY" chain).

Luckily I found a small business on an industrial estate who stocked such parts, and for a fraction of the price of what B&Q would charge! I think you Americans call these "mom and pop" stores, and I'd much rather give my money to people like that!

Here in the UK bolts could be, Whitworth, BSF British Standard Fine, AF (American Fine), or Metric.
I've two socket sets AF and Metric, as different cars I've had in the past, depending on the make I might need either to work on them. I've not worked on a car for 35 years now.

It's the same here--the "big box" chain stores stock very lightly--tending to stuff that moves quickly--unfortunately, they have eliminated the smaller "Mom & Pop" stores in this area.
