A Little Help for BobbyB

Hey folks, hope you've had a blessed week. These last two weeks have been killing me with work and other obligatons.

Anyhoo...I have two Astro-Sonic 100's with the W621 micromatic turntables, separate tuner/amp, the "low-boy" Santiago 1-RP667 and a Francisco 1-RP679. These are both featured in my 1966 Brochure and both use the W621 turntable (Sams says W620-smaller platter plus tall speed selector switch) and the separate radio + Amp A575-02-02.

According to the brochure, that low-cut Santiago Astro-Sonic 100 uses 15" High-efficiency woofers with 20 oz. magnets, while the Francisco Astro-Sonic 100 uses 15' Super-Sonic woofers with 48 oz. magnets. The Santiago was listed for $595.00 and the Francisco listed for $650.00. Other than the more expensive woofers in the Francisco model andy maybe more ornate cabinetry, these units are basically the same. I also have a huge, gutted Maggie out in the garage...looks like a coffin...LOL

Sorry for dragging this on, and I'll cut it to the chase. As mentioned above, I have these two units that kick butt big time...but, I bought separate units from a JERK in New York (W603 turntable, Radio chassis and separate A575 amp.)

My question is...Since my consoles have the smaller cartridge (like EV275) which puts out about .25+ volts, and this other unit, in pieces, same receiver/separate anp, uses an older W603 turntable with a larger cartridge that probably puts out about 1volt, Is there a difference in the preamp section to handle these different catridges? These Astro-Sonic 100's are LOUD and clean. --BB

The cartridges that put out more voltage usually do not have as good a frequency response.
