rockola 440

hello' i have been having a couple of problem with a rockola 440 that i picked up' the problem's is the mag will not stop spinning in the play position' have manual' adjusted the 3 micro switches to manual specks and the damm thing keeps spinning credit unit works takes coins put when i play a selection none of the pins pop out and read out arm & mag won't stop spinnin ' went though the manual and both gripper motors work manualy can trip coil in control box and picks up record and plays it and puts it back in the mag fine and the mag keeps spinning with no selections this is my first rockola and any help to get me in the right direction wouls be great thanks .BASSMAN

thanks ron for your reply' yes checked all 3 mirco switches' and adjusted to specks to manual' if i hit scan switch to get mag in home position the mag stops and if i manualy flip the pin lets say j5 the mag will start scanning' but read out will not push pin back the read out arm justs keeps spinning and won't stop at the home position' checked wobble plate coil and seems to be working' this is my first rockola' fixed a lot of seeburgs and always got great advice from you ron. thanks but this is a model i have never worked on before but will get er done thanks again ron

I would say that the problem is the wobble plate microswitch or connections at this location. Its easier to view from the back of the machine. The swich may be actuated even though no selections have been made

I would guess the WP switch is staying active, as it well should, if a pin fails to be fuly canceled--it this happening with ALL "energized" pins, or just some on one side, or all on one side only ? Ron Rich

if i press the keyboard some pins will pop' after fully cleaning keyboard' but still will not push pin back' gonna fully clean wobble plate contacts and maybe reflow solder on W.I & R.O arms this machine was sitting for a very long time when i drilled out locks this was what was inside the jukebox too funny' and thanks for all your help

I would suggest that you clean both the write in, (WI) and read out (RO) "slip rings", and contacts with a non-residue safety solvent, then a coat or two of Deoxit -5 --this always solves this problem for me, unless there is a poor slider contact, or bad coil/hammer somewhere--Ron Rich

what is the correct resistior that is in the control box on a rockola 440 it tested to be a 15 but the manual says a 5 is this correct to slow the gripper motor down' and would this be the reason that the record mag is not stopping at the home position on the read out arm side thanks

"Gripper motor resistor" should have nothing to do with the basket motor ?? Basket motor is stopped via the read-out carriage (hopefully) making contact with the slip-ring and the "pulled pin"-- Basket motor started, and held on by the wobble plate switch--relay--and either slip ring or aux switch (depending on model of phono).
