This is why I shouldn't go to thrift stores.....Seeburg USC1

Hey y'all -
I'm new to the forum and just wanted to introduce my new purchase: no pics yet, but I'll add some soon.
I'm a vintage electronics/car guy, and I went to a local junk store yesterday: out in the back yard they had a Seeburg USC1 Juke which I couldn't resist for $75. Apparently it works, but it's been in someone's garage for a LONG time judging by appearances. It's complete I think, apart from the label by the coin slot. No keys but unlocked. VERY dirty inside, but the mechanics look very oily and greasy as opposed to dry and rusty, so that might be good.
It wants a LOT of help, but my girlfriend really wanted it and so did I: I'll do what I can to bring it back to life! I'm getting it delivered Wednesday, and I'll post pics then. I'm extremely concerned about not being able to lock down the mechanism for transport: I've already found out how important it is. I'll just ask them to keep it level and hope for the best........

Welcome,
In THIS case--I would advise the following--
Remove any records in the phono (L@@K under the mechanism for any others that may have fallen earlier !)
Use "Duck tape" to secure the upper cabinet lid, tightly, if open !
Use same tape to secure the lower lid TIGHTLY --tape to SIDE glass not front glass
(Hand) truck only from rear
FYI--do NOT drill locks--key (#F291) is available --see above sticky--"Parts--where to find--" and please read all stickies --

Rob,
Well, it's a "Bandshell-Firestar" (USC-2), but I can't tell where it is--If it's truly "outside" in the sun, it ainna gonna last too much longer !! Ron Rich

It's in much better condition than mine!
Once it's delivered, the first stop for it is the garage while I clean out all the cobwebs and dust. Then it goes into the house and I'll start I guess by a deep clean, followed by de-oxit of every electrical contact I can see, followed by oiling and greasing. Then who knows?

Iffin I were axked for advise--which I do not give, I think I would tell you ( and all other newbies)---
First--purchase a key ! 2nd. Lock all the doors on that phono ! 3. Purchase and read the "Service Manual Package" (especially the "I & O Manual"), and I would think a copy of my Seeburg Mechanism Guide, would also help (PM me if you wish to purchase it). Reason being--using the "wrong, cleaners, lubrication" can do more damage, in some cases, then no lubrication !!

No, it would not be practical to lave a machine outside in that environment,. It was some sort of retro exhibition that also featured old trucks and American cars. that restaurant in in the Rajchadamnoen district of Bangkok. this is right near the Democracy Monument which has been the site of huge protests and unfortunately some violence.
The pricing-instructions appear to be Japanese:https://www.flickr.com/photos/jasonbscott/7167434074/in/photostream/
Note the records are all small hole:

Also--the Sun, plays havoc on both the program lid "black plastic"( on the USC models), and the records--REAL fast !

It's arrived!!
Apparently unharmed from its touring ordeal in the truck....... it powers up fine and when I test the motor mechanism with the service switch, it tracks well. The digital control center box next to the amp is missing its buss fuse, so the search is on for the correct rating. I'll start a new post in a couple days with photos for anyone who's interested. GRAPHIC CONTENT WARNING: it looks pretty sad

If you are speaking of the empty fuse holder on the outside of the DCC, I would advise you to READ-- BEFORE installing one !!!
