Rowe MM-5 Misbehaving

by WindDrake » Sat Sep 13, 2014 1:12 am

Hey folks. Finally decided to post here after coming into ownership of a Rowe MM-5 in New Orleans trim. :)

Worked through a few issues with it, and now it's playing great, with one last problem for me to solve.

It appears as though there should be a terminating connector of some kind on the "Bonus Relay/Money Meter" plug, as it's the single termination point for the credit cancel/credit cancel stop coils. My jukebox appears to be missing it, and as you can probably guess, it won't decrement the credit counter.

Any of you gents happen to have a pic of one, so I can make one?

Thanks!
-Josh

Still fighting with this one.

Going by the schematics and operating diagram, all we're trying to do is connect the Blue side of the credit cancel coil to GND or COM. This ties back eventually to the B(lack) trunk.

Manually connecting pins 6 and 9 at the credit counter fires the coils and the counter decrements (and locks on).

So it looks like whatever normally latches up to fire this is stuck.

I'm not sure what the circle-with-triangle-and-number or circle-with-number, or even square-with-circle-with-number means in the operating diagrams, and there's no key for them, so I'm not sure what all exactly this is trying to tell me.

I still don't have an answer Re; the Bonus Relay/Money Meter plug. Pin 9 on the money meter card edge (White wire) is a dead-end to the bonus relay plug. If I guess at the circle-triangle-number icon, I'd guess it's telling me Pin 4 to 5 at a given conector. Problem is, if I hook pin 4 to pin 5, when I make a selection, the credit counter INCREMENTS. Again guessing at the icons, square-circle-number 11 is likely Pin 11 of the Selector assembly, Slate/White wire. And this is where things get screwy.

The operating diagram says inside the selector, the wire should be pin 11, White/Black wire. However, the selector schematic says pin 11 is white. Pin 10 is white/black. The schematic for the selectors is pretty horrible, from a readability standpoint, so here's where I'm stuck.

For grins, I checked over the R1/R5 relays, and they are fine.

Not really sure where to go from here.

Hi Josh,

Welcome to the forum.
Do you have a manual for your Rowe Ami MM-5?

If you do this will aid anyone trying to give you advice.

Regards
Alan

You should have a 9-pin plug with pins 4 & 5 connected together with a jumper wire in the money meter connector. These were often removed by the operator to put it on free play when it was sold. I have some - PM me if you want one or a picture of it. Ray
