Problems with Steelman Radio/phonograph

Hello all,

I have a Steelman model 596. I bought awhile ago had an electrcian friend help me get it working and gave it to my grandmother to play her old records on. She moved and forgot to stablize the turntable, since then the I get no sound from the record player. The radio works fine! The turntable turns and you can hear it playing off the needle but nothing at high or low volume comes out of speaker.

This type of electronics is a little before my time but I have some basic electrical knowledge and have a fluke meter to test any part you might suggest is bad, I just don't know where to start.

Thanks
Greg

Look on e-bay for item# 230005766647. It is Sam's Photofact for a 597 but it should be close. Most likely a wire tore loose or the cartridge got damaged. Look it over from cart to amp for any physical damage. Also you'll want to see if the changer has a mute switch and if it does perhaps it jammed. The switch would be located under the turntable near where the tone arm wires connect. I'm sort of flying blind here as I don't have a schematic in front of me. The output of the cart, if you want to test it should show a volt or two when you excite the needle. Again, without the schematic I can't give you the actual specs. I'm not sure if I have a Photofact particular model at home. Hope this helps.
