Seeburg Disco "Gas Springs" Question

I picked up a set of gas springs for my Seeburg Disco jukebox to hold the lid open... it comes with just the gas springs only... the ball joints on each end are not included.

I've been to Autozone, Napa Auto and Oreillys Auto in an effort to figure out how in the hell to get the ball joints off the ends of the old springs.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

That is exactly who I got them from.

They come without the ball joints attached on each end.

I am trying to get the ball joints out of the current springs I have.

Are you attempting to remove the shocks from the ball joints ? If so, there are two types, both have a "clip" that is removable--the "ball" itself, remains attached, to the cabinet, while this clip is removed, they then "fall apart". I can re-call only one type--it has a flat spring steel "clip" that "pops" off-- I think the other type has a "hair-pin" type clip--either way, the "balls" are the same--You NEED another person to help you while doing this----Give John a phone call--he will have the answer , I think ?

Man I dunno... I've tried using a fork, I tried force... I tried everything. I can't get the damn thing to budge... period. Again... i stumped about 8 different people at 3 auto shops...

There is no access to the "clip" ... no way to get it "out" or "compress" it... I've tried everything I can think of.

Save for cutting the damn thing off with a Dremel tool, I am at a loss.

I emailed Durfee Saturday morning...waiting to hear back.... I'm surprised these damn ball joints aren't included frankly.

After careful consideration... and trying just about everything else I could think of...

Out came the Dremel tool.

About 20 minutes later I had all 4 ball-pivots out and in the new springs.

>sigh<

Sometimes it all comes down to brute force... or cutting stuff off.

:D
