5mfd non-polarized caps?

by foxtrotxray » Fri Aug 28, 2015 6:50 pm

Hey guys -
Quick question -
There are some non-polarized caps on my juke (Rowe MM6). I need to replace one due to voltage leaking. It connects 30vac to ground/common.

I'm having a difficult time finding a non-polarized 5mfd cap. IS is non-polarized? And then, if it is, can I use a polarized one in its place? (with the anode/cathode in the right positions, obviously.)

Thanks-
Mike
I'm strange.. I like 'Rock And Roll (Part 1) from Gary Glitter more than the more common (Part 2)..

Quick answer--
Use two 10mfd lytic caps, in series --connect the two new positive ends together, connect the two negative ends to the terminals that the old 5mfd was connected to. Watch voltage ratings, both new caps MUST be rated as high ( or higher), then the original. -(-)------++-------(-)-
