BSR UA8 Part id?

by premier72 » Sun Sep 13, 2015 5:41 pm

I just got a late 50s Symphonic portable and was checking it out and found this part inside the cabinet. I am not familiar with these early BSR's. Would anyone know exactly where this part goes? Thanks.

That does not look like a turntable part.

It looks like a part used to hold the cabinet together, to route wires, or to stop a tilting record changer mount in the level position.. Look for another similar part that is still in place.

It may not even belong to the unit. I have found items inside stereo cabinets that were parts of toys put in by small fry. I have also found pencils crayons, Tinkertoy rods, paper clips, paintbrushes, and other objects that fit through the cooling holes inside consoles. In fact, I wondered why the defroster in a car I bought in 2003 smelled so bad. I took the pipe off the heater valve assembly and found it loaded with crayons. I also found what seemed to be a whole bottle's fill of Flintstones vitamins in the cold air register in my bedroom just after I bought my current house..

That looks like the plastic clip in a shirt I bought. It held the cardboard stiffener in place so the shirt looks good in the store.
