Wurlitzer Americana 3700 question

by shifterbrains » Tue Jun 16, 2009 4:44 am

Hi there. I am brand new! :)

I got this jukebox from somebody who had let it sit for thirty-five years in a building somewhere..well,let's put it this way: "Without You" by Nilsson is probably the most current record in it.

Anyway, the platter motor was seized up completely, and one amp board still needs fixed. But my main question is,there is a board missing: the board (or module) that sits between the control unit (relay board) and the coin mech. From what I can find out,it's a "credit" module. Does it need to be there for the unit to operate in free play? I have the jukebox working now,to a point. It plays a record fine, loads it back into the carousel, then picks it back up and plays it again. But you can't make a selection. Thanks!

John at flippers.com works on these machines. Here are a couple of service tips:

Of course you'll need the service and parts manual which you can buy at www.victoryglass.com or alwaysjukin.com

# 23-1066 (R-251) Wurlitzer 3700 Service & Parts manual, 126 pages, $35.

No "credit unit" ( Wurlitzer called it a "BO/AC") is needed for "free play" in this model--like Ken wrote--purchase the manuals, from one of the "legit suppliers" listed, and it will show you what's supposed to be where, inside the cabinet-- Ron Rich

Thank you very much! I wasn't sure whether to put much time into the machine, because it's not one of the more desirable units (I have a Seeburg 220 that has more nostalgic appeal),but this Wurlitzer does have good sound. All I want to do with it is keep it in my garage and play it when I'm out there.

Thanks again
