Schematic wanted for Bal Ami repair

by ami-man » Fri Jul 10, 2009 5:51 pm

Hello,

I am looking for a schematic for a Beam Echo amplifier that was fitted to a Bal Ami (HU) in order to do a repair on this unit.

YO! Guy...I'm new to this.. but been doin' jukes for awhile. A suggestion...take some paper and write out (1) a block diagram of your present amp. After that (2) write a schematic of same. Any juke amp made is usually 2 stages....input & output for the sound. The power supply is the most important. It's voltages should be correct. Some amps also supply power to "other" things. You must investigate what the "amp's" duty is. Simply.. if it "worked" for a while....then probably a component has degraded or is "blown". Try using standard electrical testing procedures.. you can isolate the "bad" component and get the amp operating as original. Remember that most all electrolytic capacitors degrade with age. Replace ALL electrolytic capacitors ... then check the values of the resistors .. a "color" guide for these values always helps. You folks are some of my ancestors...therefore you call "tubes" as " valves". After ALL the former written is correct.. then the "valves" can be checked. Always remember that capacitors, transformers and resistors CONTROL "valves" or "tubes". Dudge. ( I hope you can locate a schematic!)

I remember those!

"As a lad just after the war in a cold winter we used to take the back off the radio and warm our hands over the big rectifier valve, the size of a 150watt lamp."

I don't mind if you don't like my manners, I don't like them myself, they're pretty bad, I grieve over them on long winter evenings.
