R/O 474 Help needed

by Ron Rich » Wed Aug 04, 2010 9:39 pm

Hi All,
Need to put my head on track on this one--model 474 RockOla--plays the 100 (A)sides perfectly--B sides, it detents, grabs the record, hammers the pin back--then "goes to hell in a basket"--Large (plug in type) "Play control relay" on panel which also houses the "stop" and "Write in" relays, chatters. Gripper motor slows WAY down--at this point it MAY or may not pop the 1.6 mechanism CB. The "lock-trip" coils in the box on the mechanism do not get changed, and the gripper motor attempts to continue turning after the record is set down and needle is on record--plays one or two bars prior to popping the CB (if I have reset it earlier--or not). I just reset the CB, and "filp" the lock-trip relays and it's OK--till the next B side is picked---
One other thing that should not be affecting this condition--the copper "U" shaped spring that holds the "carry over switch" on the pinbank is broken-did not have one with me yesterday--
Any ideas ?? TIA! Ron Rich

Could it be a bad section of the A-B snap switch?

Ken,
I don't know--was beginning to think on those lines--schematic is vague-can't tell all that the AB switch does--
But don't have one to try-- Ron Rich
