Tonearm wiring to cartridge

Am attempting to wire tonearm wire to p132d cartridge.
Tonearm wiring has 3 wires. Black, red, and green.
They are wrapped in a sheath of wire that is wrapped by a braided
Cord. I believe this to be the original tonearm wire.
Juke is a rockola Capri 2 model 414.
It is a stereo machine.
I plan on soldering wire to Connector lugs then plugging
Into cartridge. How to do this? Three wires to four pins
On cartridge? Thanks a lot. Raven

Raven,
Look at the old cart--or the schematic--you will find that two wires are "hot" --one for each channel--
and the third wire is common to both channels. Just a guess--the black is the common--solder a jumper onto the connector from common to common on the new cart. DO NOT attempt to solder directly to the cart--It will NOT "take the heat" !! Ron Rich

That was correct. I spliced a little section off the black
Wire back onto itself. So there was two black on the bottom
Two pins, and then red and green on the right and left
Top pins respectively. Sounds like I'm getting good stereo
Separation. This was my first soldering job!
Thanks again. Raven

Well done!
These really thin wires are an absolute pain. On my Rock-Olas they are also very difficult to get at as you have to lean right over to get at them.

Riley,
Those are not too bad--try mounting a 100 pin, SM chip by hand--that's a challenge !
I have done it in the past--my eyes are no longer good enough, and I doubt that I can make both hands shake in the same direction, at the same time anymore---

Hi,
Ron is correct there are plenty of bad soldering jobs and also crimping cable can also be a pain, I crimp 50 micron fiber cable after striping the insulation off of it, like Ron says the old eyes are a problem, that size is about as low as I go but for long fiber rums they use 9 micron cable.
