Rowe board error code 14-1

CD 100H was constantly resetting as if power was being interrupted. Jiggling service switch seemed to be the cause, so I dismantled and cleaned it. Still had the problem, but after some more jiggling it started working and playing normally. Several hours later it was not working again, now showing board error 14-1. Installed the CCC from a CD 100C and fixed the problem. Put the CCC from the H into the C juke and it plays fine, but board error LED stays on constantly and it still shows the Error 14-1. Board looks like new, battery is 3.8 volts, reseated the only socketed chip on the board, did a factory reset, still have the same problem. Seems odd that after the reset I didn’t have to reprogram the CDs, don’t know if it is supposed to retain the track list or not. So, is there really a problem, or is the error code because the newer CCC is not compatible with the C model box? Both computers are original to the jukes they came in. Any advice appreciated.

CCC's are interchangeable--may lose/add a feature, depending on chip version--
You either did not reset the CCC correctly, or you have a bad chip, preventing CCC reset.
What version is the chip ? Ron Rich

Hello Doughbroz,

Error 14-01 is a CCC eprom checksum error. The battery is 3 volts were you testing it with the power on?
I would recheck the battery.
When you reseated the eprom did you do the following:-
Turn the jukebox off.
Press and hold the keyboard 0 and 1 switches down and place the service switch to on: hold the 0 and 1 switches down untill the displayshows Loading Defaults: The 14-04 error warning appears but this status warning canbe cleared later.

If the above does not work you need to get a new eprom and do the above again.

Thanks for the speedy replies. I will post the version number, might take me a few days. Battery voltage was 3.8 with CCC removed from the juke, obviously not the original battery, so that could be the problem, it's one of those cylindrical purple-striped ni-cads with axial leads. I did the reset as you recommend, saw it load defaults, and cleared the 14-04 error code. I do have access to a CD 100B, so I will also post the version number of that eprom as well, and swap them for testing if there is not a problem with doing that. Thanks again.

Swapped the eprom from a model B CCC into the H model CCC and cured the problem. The B eprom was a version 3.9, the H had no tag, so there is apparently no major difference. fwiw, the B board had the same battery. It's a 1/2 AA, rated at 3.6 volts. I think i said previously that it was ni-cad, but it's lithium, the same type I see on a lot of older 8-liner boards. I know the B board hasn't been touched in years, so it appears the battery type is not a problem either. So, I'm off to order a new eprom. Thanks for the tips.

Doughbroz,
The battery must be an LI--in either shape-- the version number is readable on the display see location 88--I think (it's in the manual)-- Ron Rich
