Wurlitzer 700 record problem

by K9AF » Fri Mar 30, 2007 2:41 pm

Hi:
I am restoring this 1940 vintage juke. I have gotten the load/eject mechanism to function more or less correctly. But there is still one very annoying problem: After playing the record, when the eject sequence begins, the record is placed back on its holder plate as the turntable descends below it, and the plate swings back towards the record stack. SOME of the record holders sag just enough to go into the slot for the record BELOW their proper spot. When this happens, it tends to jam the two so that the auto-selctor can't load either of them the next time one is called for. I have tried tightenting the pivot rod, making it less tight, and just about everything I can think of to stop this from happening. Does anyone have a cure for this problem?

Many thanks,
Jerry K9AF

Jerry, two suggestions. first buy the manual if you dont already have one. Secondly join this jukebox forum

there are some very good tech guys on there and I am sure you would be welcome as a new member.

Simple....but be careful, swing the record tray out by hand and bend up a LITTLE. This should, if done gently, fix your problem.

Well, ALMOST that simple--however a good jukebox repair person NEVER "bends" anything !!
He just "adjusts the yelding member"--Slowly and CAREFULLY !!
Do you have "record trays" installed on this phono? You should have prior to "adjusting" the tray frames.

You are correct Ron, bending is in the long run, bad, one day metal fatigue will give you a record tray in two pieces.
My being a newbie I should have waited and not posted any hints until this guy signed on and got a book. Sorry.
