Seeburg 160 Mechanism sticking

by ds100h » Thu Jan 23, 2014 2:48 am

My seeburg 160 mechanism has started to bounce at each end of the record rack insead of reversing direction. As soon as I turn it off and then back on it reverses direction.

I bunished contacts G and H and j and K. This does not seem to fix the problem.

What esle should I try at this point?

Hi Darrell,
You can burnish those contacts till the cows come home--it ainna gonna do no good--
With the power OFF, take a resistance reading of the "0" contact. It MUST be making, well, when the mech is in scan position. If it is making good contact, and is not burned/pitted-has silver left on it--your motor run cap ,1.6 uf side is open. If both are good--your clutch member is shot --- Ron Rich

Morning Ron

The "O" contact has a resistance reading of 0.6 on a digital meter. I burnished the "O" contact and while the mech does not bounce, when it reaches each end it acts like there is a glob of glue there and the mech sticks for a second or less and then reverses properly. It is not a "smooth" reverse of direction like the other 3 DSs.
