College Graduation Present To Myself

by MusicMan93 » Sun Nov 08, 2015 6:17 pm

Hi folks,

Well, that time has come that I will be graduating college soon, and unlike the majority of people in my generation, I will NOT be graduating with tens of thousands of dollars in student loan debt, thanks to smart financial planning and scholarships. Therefore, that affords me a little bit more opportunity to buy myself a nice top-of-the-line record player, both as a tangible reward for enduring four years of work as well as have something nice to display in my first home.

I am looking to buy ONE of the following items - there's no way could I afford all of them, but one can dream...

a.) Victrola Credenza/8-1/8-30 (essentially, they are the same model but with slight design changes). Any year (1925-1929) is fine, as long as it's in relatively playable and presentable condition.

c.) Columbia Viva-Tonal 810. I have never seen one of these in person, but I've heard them on YouTube and they sound almost as good as the Credenzas do. Certainly enough to satisfy a vintage phonograph fanatic like myself!

d.) 1950s Seeburg jukebox. The model does not have to be specific - Seeburg made a ton of great models - but this would go great in a man cave or home entertainment area.

I live in Minnetonka, Minnesota, so a reasonable radius of travel for delivery would be about from Duluth to Rochester. I am not looking for a "steal" or trying to rip somebody off - I will pay fair market value for one of the above players (and more if you'll be delivering it, since I don't have a car). If anyone is looking to sell any of the above items and they are in proper working and cosmetic condition, PLEASE make me your first line of contact! I also have an Orthophonic Victrola 1-90 to trade as well as an Edison Standard with a 42" morning glory horn if you're interested.

Hope to hear from someone soon - I would love to have one of the above items and be the envy of the neighborhood!

Congratulations. I'm sure anything you get will be well deserved.
