Hi Folks,
Can anyone help in identifying a component that needs replacing... Vr100 (same as VR101) its a Varistor for voltage surge protection of the motors on the caddy... I know it will work without these, but protection is always a good thing...
Value n voltage rating please....
Thanks

My knowledge of variable resistors is poor-- I have noted that they were rated at 120 Volts when used here in a protective circuit for the mains voltage (which IS 120) . You might try t search ("google") it, on the net -- Let us know what you find. Ron Rich

Hi Ron,
Turns out they're not cap's as I previously thought... bit of research is a good thing

Mains voltage in Ireland is 230V, however I believe the voltage in the caddy area is around 50V? I'll have to get my meter out and power up the board...
Thanks for the info...

Hi
Just managed to dig up a parts manual - VR100/101 are listed as VDR-resistor with no values given. I have often seen carriages working away with one or both blown.

Thanks Clones,
I've read that they are not needed, but wold be nice to have the protection, they work like a fuse to protect against power surge...
Bit like a spark gap in the old CRT tv's...
