Ron do you work on the later rockola's? I ahte my box an it is about ready to be shipped to the land filed no one wants to work on it. Charlie Maier was to last to service this darn thing. UGH His words on the phone about this box was not good. This was the first rockola to use a computer an boy did they not work things out.

Problem with it now is the amp. It was rebuilt by Charlie along with the logic board. I think the amp has a bad driver board on the left side. Also the darn thing forgets what it was doing in will lose all the selections in memory. Service guide is a joke on that one says to replace logic board.

Hi Troydog,
They are not my favorite models--I used to send RockOla Charlie all of my "problems" too--sure miss him--we disagreed on politics, and would argue all night long sometimes--but all in all, we were friends.
I have no testing abilities for that amp, you might try Mike Zuccaro ( mjzaccaro@aol.com )---as for the "memory"--it's mechanical on that model, so I can't see how it could "forget" ? Ron Rich

Rob,
In this case, I doubt "Ace is the Place" to locate a replacement spring. That spring must be "exact"--too much pressure there will bind, pinch, or flatten the idler.
Should this happen you are likely to get "wow" and / or "flutter" and an incorrect speed. plus ruin the idler ! If the spring is too light, the idler will "slip" against the turntable--find the spring--it HAS to be in there --somewhere--who knows, you might even find the correct e-ring ! Ron Rich

Hey Ron,

The box has been working great all this time, but suddenly I started getting bad static in the speakers today. Not sure why, but imagine it could be several possibilities. The static even happens when the box is turned on but at rest (no records playing). Bummer. Ideas on trouble shooting?

I found this online:

I couldn't figure out what this refers to just from eyeballing it,

"If yes, try unplugging the phono cartridge input jack (have vol ctrl turned down
first) from the amp chassis."

but it did seem louder (the static) with tone arm movement crossing my fingers and hoping it's not too hard to fix.

Don't know what to tell you, except, it appears to me to be internal amp problems.---and if you can't follow Jim Alexanders post, I would guess you will have to remove the amp and send it to a qualified tech-- Ron Rich

Yeah, I re-read his whole thing after I posted and realized that the only option he listed fir the noise at rest was bad caps. Who do you recommend for repairing the caps, Ron? I'll poke around some more on here. I remember that someone sells the replacement caps.

Hard to say if it's caps, or other parts within the amp. There are several guy's I know who will work on those( I don't )--contact me off forum, and I'll give you their info-- Ron Rich
