Perpetuum Ebner Rex AA Cartridge Problem

by gpride » Sun Nov 29, 2015 4:16 am

Looking for some help.

I manage to pull out the cartridge from my PE Rex AA. There is a collar piece that came out and i am struggling to get it back in the right location.

Any help would be super.

Do your records a favor and upgrade from that antiquated cartridge.
They're really not worth the trouble fussing over.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.

All depends on the TYPE of cartridge involved.
Magnetics read ohms on the terminals, and the chassis includes a preamp to deal with them.
Ceramics or crystal types read "open"
But defective magnetics can read "open" as well.
Tracking force on those PE changers is usually heavy due to their crude design.
So this is of importance when making a decision.

Without knowing specific details of the unit, it's impossible for me to determine the possibilities across a computer screen.
I'm good, but not "that" good.
I will state that anything of that vintage will require much more than a cartridge by now.

I replaced that cart with a Tetrad it went into a late 50s Grundig (MONO) Cart has 1/2 inch mounting centers so there is a large number of carts to choose from. BTW the cart in the picture is a magnitc. as to the loose bracket in puicture. it was rivited to the base. rivets were broken on yours. Good luck
