Nidec vs. Bodine -Opinions?

One of my VL's on location has a Westinghouse motor with a now-open winding.

I have two Nidec motors from HLPCs and three Bodine spares.

The questions is: The Nidec is rated at 1400 rpm and the Bodine are 1600rpm. I know that the Seeburgs run fast but humans are more perceptive of slower pitch than slightly fast. So, what are the opinions and experiences to aid my choice?

Thanks,

Rob-NYC

Rob,
Remember the old "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" line, in the Wizard of OZ ? I axked often about that "noted speed difference", and never got any answer, except they all ( all brands), run at the same speed. BTW--The "Nidac's" were not original equipment in the LPC days--they were introduced in about 1977---Both are good -Nidacs require more frequent oiling, or they WILL freeze up ! I prefer the Bodine KCI-42A1, as the "best one"--Ron Rich

Installed the Bodine (date code of Apr '67 -HSS160 mech) worked well for five minutes and ground to a halt. One winding reads approx 80ohm, the other approx 130. Both sections of the cap measured right-on. I bridged at 1mfd mylar across the active sec of the cap just for "science"- no change.

One of the Nidec's is up next. Only good news is that the Worstinghouse has a broken wire -not open winding. All wires are crispy so I'll wash it up and see if I can splice new teflon wires inside the case.

It is really crazy keeping this sixty-year old stuff in commercial service.

PIA.
