Hi Felix,
Start by telling me what model the Solid State Control (SCC-?)center is---

Felix,
OK--do you have a meter--if so, check the voltages as shown on the SCC front. The Read out voltage can only be determined when the detent switch is open. Also, that voltage needs to be checked while the mechanism is scanning, with the Service switch in "play" position--NOTE--This can only be done with a good analog meter (250volt dc scale)
Let me know the readings !

Felix,
Not knowing your "skill level", I would suggest that if you do not know how to test it, that you don't attempt it. Rather, get some "pro" help, as voltages are high enough to cause you to "hurt' yourself, or worse !
Most often, a failure such as the IS internal in the SCC--but, there are other places it could be-- I can test/rebuild that SCC for you, if you wish to ship it to me.
If you want to do that, please contact me at : ronnnrich@yahoo.com Ron Rich

my buddy's an electrician and he can check it but he is going to ask me these questions, what test points and at what voltage it should be

its 346 before and while scanning no change, and it is on the play position

This indicates an "open" in the read out circuit. Check the detent switch and both contact block pins--the little red wires often detach, but it's odd that they both would do so at the same time--- Ron Rich
