Magnavox Mix and Match?

New to this site and am excited there is something for us old hi-fi nuts!

I have two pristine Magnavox tube preamps that were pulled from early 1960s consoles with the 11 wire harness that uses a plug with flat connection tongs. I also have a Mag tube poweramp pulled from another console with the 11 wire receptacle but it uses circular instead of flat connectors. I know the voltages needed to power the preamps and I can go about testing the outputs of the poweramp to see if they match, but I thought I would check here first, to see if these were fairly standard issue even with the connector difference, so that I could just jump the connectors and power it up (I did notice the AC loop is in the same place in both connectors, so that seemed hopeful). I'm assuming they are early 60's by the FM stereo multiplex and that it's tube. Any knowledge or advice would be appreciated!

Pre amp 1: Console number is 3ST661A. Chassis is ink-stamped 7703-10. Nine tubes. Requires 6.3 volts AC or DC for the filaments (blue and green for the preamp tube, brown and yellow for the rest and pilot lamps), and about 275-300 VDC for B+ (red).

Pre amp 2: No console number, chassis ink-stamped 450242 and 7909-10. Six tubes. Requires 6.3 volts AC or DC for the filaments (blue and green for the preamp tube, brown and yellow for the rest and pilot lamps), and about 250-275 VDC for B+ (red).

Magnavox power amp: Ink-stamped 117446. The input tube is a 6eu7 and rectifier is a 6CA4. I think the amp is rated at 110 watts and has a build date of March 1963.

First off the numbers 7703-10 and the one for the amp, 117446 aren't in SAMS data. So to me that's going to hamper your effort. Generally the amp has other markings and by-the-way the 110 watt is the draw. You need the schematics because the amp you have may not carry the nine tube or even the other tuner. Your approach is ok but you do need to match the tuner's power requirement with the correct amplifier/power supply.

Be aware that tube amps used voltage dividers which required all of the plugs to be in place for the voltages on the specs to be correct. They will show the wrong voltages without the loads attached.

The Sams index will not have the Magnavox chassis numbers, but the numbers for the complete consoles, which included several different chassis in one unit. The only place the chassis number appears is in the folder itself.
