Help with my Magnavox Astro-Sonic Console

I am now the proud owner of my Nana's stereo.... As I child I remember hearing wonderful Christmas records played on it starting at Thanksgiving......so I am rying to do the same for my children. It turns on and the arms all move and the speakers are all in working order. The radio works awesome....the problem is when I put a 33 vinyl record on and it is set on 33 and I turn it to automatic the record falls down the arm goes over and then it goes back to the home position.......the stylus is set on LP not 78.......I have no manual and I honestly do not know the year of it.....I can see numbers on the back of the console. It looks to me like to early 70's era......there is no 8track........any thoughts anyone of what to do....
