Scan switch problem in my Rock-Ola 490-2

by ebuturla » Tue Jun 23, 2015 4:10 pm

I have a Rock-Ola 490-2. The scan switch does not seem to operate properly. Here is what happens:

With the Scan switch in the off position, I get a constant slow rotation of the record magazine.

With the Scan switch in the Operate position, I get a slow rotation. If I punch in a number to play a record, the magazine spins to that location, the gripper goes thru the pick up and deposit motion, the tone arm moves over to play, reverses and the gripper removes the record. This happens much more rapidly than it should; it takes a maximum of a few seconds.

With the Scan switch in scan mode, I get fast rotation, the numbers on the magazine show on the display and the magazine continues to spin.

I do not have any records in the magazine while this is going on. Is that important?

I also have a power supply issue I recently posted. Could that problem somehow influence the operation of the scan switch?

Hi Ed,
It would be my GUESS, that the two problems are related ! Are you using the correct, transistor/LED ??
If so, I would search the 28vdc line for a "pinched wire"--somewhere---
