Rockola CD-8 Bubbler Problems

by johnnyjukebox » Sat Dec 18, 2010 10:00 pm

Having a little problem with the black system. When you first turn the power on the Magazine truns quickly, but after about one rotation the Magazine slows down to a crawl, I have checked the DC voltages on the motors and they are there. I have loaded CD's on the first few magazine slots, turn the scan switch to off on the display its shows S-3, the release button 4, shows CD00 release play hits button slide scan switch to operate, but the magazine continues to turn very slow, never stopping at any cd's to Map. Everthing I key in it will not respond, just continues to run very slow. I contacted Rockola talked with Jorge Rivera, he said to contact George Rivera.
I sent all circuit boards, computer board and power supply. He said there was no problems with any of the boards. Any ideas?
Thanks
Johnny

Johnny,

Did you send in the entire power supply or just the rectifier pcb? If you didn't send in the entire unit, you may have a leaking +24VDC regulator which is mounted to the lid of the PS. If they did troubleshoot the entire PS Assembly, you may have a wire pinched in the harnessing causing the "Run" signal to be low enough to bias the circuit.

Here's the trail:
Control Computer fires the RUN signal.
RUN signal goes to PS and biases a small signal transistor on the rectifier pcb.
Small transistor biases the voltage regulator for +24VDC and activates the mechanism.

Hope this helps.

Respectfully,

David
