Help wanted with info Morgan Music Master

by phonomaniac » Wed May 29, 2013 9:07 pm

Just acquired this console model, in need of total rebuild due to a disastrous paint job.... and mechanical overhaul. The decal says 'Morgan's Music Master, Console Model V' but I can find no info of any kind on the web. I am presuming it's a store brand but from where, and on what base? The tone-arm is most unusual too. Acquired only 4 miles from our base in Brandon, VT. all and any info much appreciated, as it will eventually go on show in our phonograph museum.

If poss, as I don't get on here much, I'd be grateful for any copy of reply to my email address info@phonographroom.orgImage

Well I may have found something, still grateful for any firm info that can be supplied. I think this machine may haeve been produced by the Morgan Brothers (originally Smith & Morgan) department store in Montreal, which was founded in the late 1840s and after 150 years or so was absorbed into the Hudson Bay Company (Bon Marche) where it still operates from the same building according to the Bay website.. unusually they had their own construction company and a cabinet making department so these Music Masters could possibly have been built and assembled in house....
