I have an Edison Amberola 75 that i'm restoring. Just got a few parts to fix the motor. Putting it all together. And I can't get the governor adjusted right. The weights keep hiting the bottom of the bedplate before I get the speed adjusted high enough. Don't know what to do. Any help? Thanks.

this is probably easy to solve.
The regulator --consisting of at one end a movable part which moves depending on the speed, while the other end is fixed by a screw--as a whole can be moved by loosening the screw at the fixed end.Since apparently it is spinning to fast you have to move it--and fix it again--in such direction that the moveable part comes closer to the adjustable speedregulator screw.

That's right! The end opposite the brass disc is fixed by a screw (see photo), and by undoing the screw, and moving the govenor along the rod with the wormgear, to bring the disc closer to the govenor felts and retightening the screw, you should be able to adjust the speed properly. You might have to experiment by also moving the speed control before adjusting the govenor, to get it within the range you need. If this still won't work, I'd be checking the new weight springs aren't too long.

Yea, I figured it out right after I left the post, from another website. I took off the weights and springs. And straighted the springs out flat. They were sprung. Runs great now. Thanks.
