Jukebox wallbox wipod adapter and linking it to videos

by clones » Mon Mar 28, 2016 10:33 pm

Hi
Has anyone tried using a wallbox adapter and linking it with videos. The pdf instructions on the cdadapter site specify a 5th generation ipod and only a maximum of 100 videos can be used. I am not sure from the few instructions on it what way to set it up. If anyone has tried it could you let me know

I was aware of this facility, but I've only 3rd generation iPods as they are dirt cheap on eBay, it doesn't matter if they can't hold a charge as the adapter powers them.

I decided against it as it's easier to put them on a memory stick in the side of the TV. I use the wall boxes just for my "nostalgia fix."

I've got two Rock-Ola 507 wall boxes and three magazines, so I could convert one.

Let us know if you get it going.

Hi
The site specifies a 5th gen ipod although the 3rd gen nano ipods and 4th gen ones have video and movie facility. Also an adapter is needed to split the 30 pin connection to a 30 pin outlet along with a hdmi output. I am going to give it a go and will let you know how I get on

I have done this. I purchased the 5th gen ipod on Craigslist. It is the ipod that had an actual hard drive instead of sd memory. Also I believe the reason it will not work on other ipods is because you must utilize the headphone mini plug to get the video out. On the other ipods the 30 pin connector blocks this plug and as stated before you probably have to have some kind of adapter to use that. I could find no such adapter so I just got the mini plug to rca cable and hooked it to a TV. The playlist setup is somewhat confusing but I did get it to work. Also videos have to be in a specific format making them about 30MB each.

Hi
Did you connect the mini plug/rca plug into the headphone jack on your ipod. I tried this with a 5th gen ipod but no luck with it, if the ipod has been updated with software it may block the video out facility from the headphone. I think its a bit hit and miss and some 5th gen models work some don't. I also tried an adapter with a 30 pin output and hdmi output but it didn't work. There is some sort of fix listed on the web but would apply more to an ipod dock. I think in summary the video facility won't really work but if you find out anymore info let me know please.

I should have mentioned this very important fact. Unless you are using the Apple branded white mini plug to RCA adapter then you have to swap the Audio R (the red one) with the Video (yellow) on the RCA plug side. So Red plug is video and yellow plug is audio R, white plug is still audio L. I wish I had known this before I bought the apple cable. I tried it with a generic cable and it worked.
