Hi,
as most of you know already, my name is Mike, and I have posted a lot on here before. I am looking for a Magnavox Suitcase Model Record Player. Most of these were made in I believe the late 1950s and early 1960s. They can be tube models, or all transistor models. It really doesn't matter as long as they are in relatively good shape. I got two of these off E-bay and got jipped off of both of them. The first one I bought, the case is white, and it had an Imperial Micromatic record changer in it, and that one was a tube model. The second one was an All Transistor Model, this one was a lot heavier and more bulkier than the tube model. I imagine it would've been a little better, but when it came to me, it wasn't in the condition that it was described in the description. So, if anyone has one of these in very good, to mint shape, let me know and I will make you an offer!
PS. And if anyone has anything somewhat different that doesn't quite fit this description please feel free to reply and send me some pictures!

I have a tan magnavox suitcase model record player that I am looking to get rid of. It has the knobs on the front for tone, loudness and balance. The metal stamp on it says it is a Magnavox automatic 400 Made in England with the England emblem. It still works fine but I dont have the adapter for 45's. If interested just email me at
angiekirk_1967@yahoo.com. Im not sure how to attatch pics of it on here so if you email me I will get them to you. Thank you.

I have a magnavox all transistor suitcase stereo record player. It says micromatic on the inside and is in great condition. I do not know much about these but it is big, kind of greyish blue on the outside, and beautiful on the inside. If you know anything about it, or need pictures email me at
redcrossbuddha@yahoo.comthanks

Mike, I am new to this website. I have a Magnavox All Transistor (micromatic) Portable. It was given to me just before my grandma passed. Other than the fact that it was from her, I don't use it and its just taking up space now. It is in great shape, just smells old! If you are interested, email me at
peachy_252@hotmail.com and I will send pictures. Oh, and it is a dark tan color and it is the suitcase model.

Hey,
Can you folks post some pics of these models? I have a suitcase model circa 1968, with the swing-out speakers and drop-down turntable. The speakers are detachable as long as you have the cords to connect the speakers. (the signal normally runs through the "hooks" where the speakers are mounted to the cabinet so no need for cables.) The damn thing seems to weigh about 40 pounds. --BB

I have one of these Magnavox Suitcase Models. It's an Automatic 400, made in England. I'm not familiar with record players though. What kind of needle I need for it? Thank you. Todd

I'll try to post some photos here, but I'm not really interested in selling. I enjoy listening to tube-amplified records too much to let it go =-)

in this one, you can see the tubes glowing...

I'm not sure if you are still interested but I have a magnavox automatic 400 I am looking to get rid of. It has a light green cabinet and dark green cloth over the speakers. The player folds out by pulling on a little chrome knob. On the back panel when its folded out it reads "stereophonic by magnavox solid state" and two stickers warning of shock and about clothing hazards one says "this unit is transistorized and does not contain tubes or other parts that require customer servicing" the metal emblem on the metal surface thats on springs says "magnavox Automatic 400" and two knobs on each corner the one on the right has off, on, rej on the left it has 78, 45, 33, 16 on the front of the folded out player is three knobs one for tone one for loudness and on for balance the power cord comes out of the back. the whole thing folds up and is carried by a handle on the top closed up its about 28" wide 16" tall and about 25 lbs. everthing works fine but the sound does not seem loud but maybe thats the way it was back then I'm not sure.please let me know or maybe someone who would, Thanks Richard

Are you looking for a Mono unit, or Stereo units that may look something like these? I'm picturing 1968 Magnavox, 1968 Zenith, and a 1965(?) Tube GE portable. I haven't opened the latter to get any numbers/dates. They all have detatchable speakers, and the Tube GE also has two speakers in the front grille of the main cabinet. They are all HEAVY! --BB
