Hello again !

The wurlitzer is still going strong on coins, thanks to the kind help of this forum.

However, a little maintenance is due I believe. Here's what's currently happening.

When the jukebox plays a B-side and raises the record lift arm, I noticed that the arm on the A-side
is lifted close to one centimeter as well. When the B arm lowers after playing the A arm also drops to it's
normal resting position. When there is no record playing both arms are both at the same height.

When playing an A-side the record lift arm on the A-side lifts regularly, and the arm on the B-side
stays put, it does not rise the centimeter as noticed the other way around.

I've been delving into the manual but it doesn't mention this problem.
Any thoughts on where I could resolve this ?

It's not currently interfering with the ability to play any record, but if this problem gets worse I think it might.

Nick, this is normal. If you study the design of the lift arms you will note that there is nothing to restrain the unused arm. They both ride with a common roller on the cam. The unused arm is supposed to rise to a point where it is stopped by a divider on the carousel.

These mechanisms -must- be thoroughly oiled and the strain necessary to retract the lift arms is excessive IMO.

Hi Nick,
I really do not recall the operation of a 2000 record lift arm, but I thought it was the same as all earlier, and later models ?
If so, the side not playing arm, should attempt to lift and be prevented from doing so by the divider in the record basket.
Are you sure the "fulcrum" is properly oiled ? Look for something obstructing that arm ---??

I'm pretty sure it is the same mechanism as my 2150. As noted, both arms attempt to raise at the same time. One duckbill is centered in a record slot, the other between slots; therefore, one rises and the other is stopped by the record divider. Mine rises a fair amount. In fact, if you were to stop the player and manually lower the up arm and hold it all the way down, then turn the carousel, you'd hear an awful sound as the duckbill on the other arm catches the dividers. Don't ask me how I know. If the arm mechanism isn't adjusted properly, the arms won't be fully lowered and you get that same lovely sound. Bottom line is this is normal and to be expected (again, as long as the arms fully rest into the down position). I would be more concerned about the B-side arm not raising at all, when the A-side is played, since that may indicate little or no 'play' on the B-side arm.

In almost no way is any other mechanism the same as what was used in the 2000! This one may have used some common parts, but there were many "unique" parts used only in the 2000.
---and yes--the non loading arm is supposed to be stopped by the record dividers in the carousel (aka "basket"). Ron Rich
