Who can point me in the right direction?

Hi,

After a few years of pinball repair and restoration I have finally bought my first Jukebox (NSM Prestige 160b: not playing and as a project) (but have no clue about jukeboxes  )

After some work it is selecting well but not playing. It selects the record, but the tonearm does not touch the record and after
1 second the record is put back. (the arm did not move to the end position).

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

ps. Is there an easy way to test if the amps are working?

thanks in advance..

Hello Pinbalzzz,

Welcome to the forum.
As with all people who start buying or wishing to repair a jukebox I suggest that you purchase the manual for the jukebox and read through it several times before you pick up any tools, this will also help being able to describe the parts you are having issues with and being able to give the parts the correct names.

I see that you are in Europe, you may be better posting a message on the Stamann website www.jukebox-world.de Hidegard is a member of this forum, you will find more information from their forum members and the availability of parts from their want & for sale adverts and out of their sales shop.

Regards

Hi,

I have the manual and it is in English.
The website you suggested is in German and and uses German terms..

But my question for now: The tonearm has Cancel reed switch. When I measure the reed switch it seems closed.
to be sure I removed one cable from the switch and surprisingly the switch was open and working meaning the cables are shortened
somewhere or..

Is there any other switch that can shorten these (until the moment that the record is in place) ??

:?:

The website Alan suggested is also available in English. Click on the British flag at the top to change versions.

So it picks up the record, and pretty much immediately rejects record back into tray? I think your NSM may have same/similar centrale unit that mine has, that looks like this:

I had troubles with the one relay/switch that is lower right of the three in the clear plastic casings, this one in particular seems to handle rejecting/putting the record back. May be a problem with that relay, it could be stuck in mode of ejecting the record. I'm no expert though myself, had just finished bringing my juke back to life. (was missing carriage, control/credit unit board was fried) I've gotten to know it inside and out now for most part. :) I've not repaired EM machines like you such as pinball, have come into this having restored arcade video machines.
