Got my replacement board from George today. Was paranoid about hooking it up and having it fry, but everything works perfectly, except that it seems to turn the record slowly. Easy fix or something obvious I should look at on the carriage?

The rubber wheel on the surrounds of the turntable could be worn or dirty, also the motor shaft that turns the turntable could be slightly stiff. With NSM's i have had the spring may be loose (located beside the motor) or the shaft may be slightly stiff, more often than not it was the motor shaft

Thanks, I have a feeling it is shaft on motor and the rubber tyre/ring. Going to try a few things. In meantime, had problems with it rejecting a record, powered off the machine and took out the carriage to do some cleaning.

Put it back in, now if making a selection or pressing the button to scan, it doesn't move or do anything. Was fine before issue rejecting record. Any way of resetting or telling the jukebox to reset itself? Almost seems, even with pulling plug, it is keeping something in memory.

Maybe some of the connections are loose or the carriage is not on the tracks properly after you put it back, does the motor start when you try to scan it,they are fairly delicate the nsm carriages, there is a an adjustment for cut off point on the carriage when a record is played

Thanks! Well, here's the peculiar things I am noticing. Slow speed is no longer an issue, plays fine now. If I press the scan button, it does nothing except make the relay click.

There is a slider on the carriage (carriage is mounted properly), that when moved to one position, will eject a record if one in it and then moves the carriage to the far right and stops. If I enter a selection to play, the carriage doesn't do anything. A combination so far of powering off the juke, unplugging carriage, and manually triggering another relay on the central, gets it to wake up and take a selection.

Plays record fully, then stops. Then just sits there holding the record, doesn't put it back.

Noticed, although least of worries at this point, am only getting sound out of the right speakers. Get a light buzz in left speakers. Could be cartridge or something in the carriage to the stylus, not getting the left channel signal maybe.

Reject button on back of juke near volume controls, saw that only work once when I wanted to get it out of playing a record. Other attempts, it stops the turntable motor while held, but motor starts and plays again when released.

I bet a lot of my problems now are obviously with the carriage. There weren't many choices in purchasing a carriage and took what I could get.

Fixed! Took carriage out, manually rolled the motor to put it through an entire play and eject until it stopped. Put it back into jukebox, works perfect! Scan button works, it puts record back when done too. So happy!

Now thinking with stereo (no sound on left), could be the switch on central unit is set to stereo, but it isn't really able to get this, read that maybe setting it to mono may output to both sides (just not in stereo)?

Tip of the day, you might want to use a pencil eraser to clean the rubber tire that spins the turntable. A friend suggested this and I have found that this usually assists in preventing slow speeds.

Sway around the pre amp and amp driver boards on the central control unit to determine if these are at fault, swap around the left and right cartridge connections to determine if it is the cartridge, check tone arm wire connections on pcb underneath the carriage. also check speakers and speaker connections

Been playing the jukebox as much as I can the past couple nights. So I switched it from stereo to mono, and I get sound in both sides just fine. I think that is ok by me at least. Noticed not all my records play with outputting sound to both sides, so may be record dependent of course.

I'm down to one issue now really. For most part after it finishes playing record, it's not ejecting it. Have noticed it seems to be one relay on the central board that kicks it in to do this I believe. In pic below, it is the relay on the bottom right. Contacts look corroded, so going to try cleaning them first.

I have the same problem.The motor spins fine but the capstan is either barely touching the rubber outer or pressing too hard on it.On selecting a record the carriage moves to position,picks up the record and clamps it and thats it.I removed the cover over the motors and the motors turning ok.If I push on the arm/lever assembly I can make the record turn but because its slipping the sound is terrible.Have tried the couple of tips I found on youtube(fine scotchbrite on rubber ring and making sure the capstan is clean) but to no avail.Could the spring on that arm be at fault?Its a strong little bu**er and looks in good nick though.

Is it noticeably not touching the rubber? Certainly pressing too hard (most likely expansion in the rubber ring) would cause it to not turn very well at all, very slow, but should still turn in a way that the motor allows for. Is the capstan spinning, while the rubber ring stays in one place? (so not really touching at all)

May need to find a parts carriage or somehow find a new/replacement rubber ring.
