AMI R-22 (black) amp

Hi- I have an AMI R-22 (black) amp in a model B. Can anyone tell me the purpose of the "P-PN" rotary switch?? Looks like it adds a 25mfd/25v cap to the 6SJ7. Thanks, Carl.
