Rock Ola 477 Max Problem

by mbird59 » Thu Dec 08, 2011 7:48 pm

Hi I am a newbie and would be grateful if someone could give me some advice.

I had a couple of problems with my Rock Ola 477 where

1) the "LIGHT ON SPEAKER OVERLOAD" light was coming on as soon as a record was selected. I think I have resolved this by resoldering all the connections on both of the Driver PC Boards, although I need to test it out for a while.

2) When powered up the Record Magazine or Carousel jusr keeps turning and although you can hear the microswitch it seems to do nothing. I have metered out the microswitch on the opto board and check the wiring back to the logic board. As the carousel turns I can see the LED's on both the opto baord and the logic baord flashing.

If I select a record it plays it fine and then continues to rotate the magazine. I have run the "Logic Baord Test" and it plays the test selections but once again then goes back to rotating the magazine.

As I said I am a complete novice but would really appreciate some advice.

Thanks,
Mick

Mick,
You will need to look at the schematic, and find out what controls that motor. It may also show in the Service Manual.
If you do not have either, see "where to find--" above in the announcements section. Be sure to ask any seller of "service manuals" if the schematic is included ( many are not, for RockOla). Ron Rich
