Edison Diamond Disc

Hi,

I have a Edison Model B19 Chalet. The problem I am having is weird.

When I play a diamond disc, the reproducer causes a skipping every so often when the
limit pin hits the limit loop it knocks it into another groove.

I have adjusted the height of the horn, and this does not really help. I have also noticed then that some of my diamond discs are taller or warped, and they cause the reproducer
limit pin to be more toward the top.

Is this my records, is it a problem with the reproducer, or the hinge spring? I have no idea.

I have the same model, and while mine isn't doing what your describing I have had machines that did. Off hand I can't recall the reason so rather than guess I am offering the above link. I am certain you will get the answer on how to fix it there.

EF,

The 1st thing I would check is the freedom of side to side movement at the hinge block. If it's gummy at that location, you will have the problem you describe.
As far as the height, I'd suggest you adjust the horn height using a DD that is approx. .250(1/4) thick and centering the limit pin in the loop and this should allow you to play most records w/o fear of the stylus/weight assembly hitting the bottom of the sound cup and gouging the record.
