Electrical Selector not selecting Seeburg C

Hi,

I am restoring a Seeburg C. All is progressing.

After much work, I now have records playing if I manually move the levers in the selector assembly. The mech scans and selects a record and plays it. It then returns the record and plays the next record and pushes the selector level back to the centre and stops the mech.....all good.

However, I am not able to get the Electrical Selector to work. I have checked and cleaned all the points, fuses, and plugs. I used contact cleaner on the buttons and they appear to work as contact is made when I press them.

The select light comes on in the Electrical Selector when I add credit. The latch bar solenoid works and the selection buttons press and release. The credit is removed after selection is made. But the selector levers in the selector assembly do not move. I do not have a wallbox installed.

The manual does not provide too much direction in this matter.

I think it may be a bad or broken connection, but have spent a few days looking without success.

Can anyone provide me some direction where to check next?

Regards

Gordon....

Thanks Ron,

I had been through these pages several times and followed the advice without much success. I guess I missed something.

However, I have tried again and pulled the Electrical Selector apart (for the 5th time) and have made progress.

One of the contacts was not closing properly.

I now have selection of about half the records. Great news!!!

My next job is to remove, clean and adjust the Selector Assembly.

This is a job I am not looking forward to doing, however, the book "Restoring the Seeburg C" provides a detailed process to follow.

Thanks again.

Gordon.

Gordon,
On thing I forgot to mention--they called for a 2 amp sloblo fuse in that circuit ( the "open fuse clip").
I suggest that that be lowered to a 1.6 SB at the largest---better if you can get it lower--later models call for a 1 amp-- Ron Rich

Thanks Ron,

I will change it before I go any further.
