Searches, loads, rejects before playing.

How to fix?

Hi Cliff,
You will need to determine the reason for this action first--
Remove the Amplifier's AC plug, and make a selection--If it now plays the record, you have an electrical problem either in the reject circuit, or the detent coil transfer circuit. To determine which, simply plug the amp in while playing. If it continues to play at this point, the problem is with the transfer circuit, if it rejects the selection, the problem is in the reject circuit. If it will not play a selection at all (with the amp un-plugged), the problem is mechanical--lack of, or improper oil, unless "someone" has "adjusted" it. Ron Rich

An interesting description there, Ron.
Other than switching power on/off/standby, and activating a muting circuit, why would any juke have more interaction between the amp and mechanical controls?

Hi Matt,
Because Seeburgs use only one motor, and one coil,to play, and search for selections, some method of "control" is needed. Motor is easy, using what is called a "clutch assembly", but probably should be called a "tri mode transmission" ? The same coil (aka "detent coil") is used to both stop the scan (search for a selection), and to re-start it at record's end ( or if someone pushes the reject button). The electrical action is the same in both instances, but it comes from different sources--switching via mechanically activated switches, depending on where the "transmission" is, in sequence. Most Seeburg service manuals give a slight overview of this, and I add to it in my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide". Ron Rich

Thanks, Ron. I need to sell this juke box for my brother, but would like to get it playing first. I'll tinker with it so that I will have some idea how to describe it when I post it for sale.
What do you think would be a fair price, everything works and full of 45's, but not loading properly?
If it were me, rather than keep listening to the same songs, I would hook up a stereo to it....

Cliff,
(Please read and comply with the PM I sent to you, the other day).
Value is very subjective--IMHO, it depends on electrical/mechanical condition, and cosmetic conditions.
According to the "newest" ( which ain't too new !) price guide I have--$75.00 to $1700.00 is the range--
