I have what I think is an Astro-Sonic with the Imperial changer (circa 1965). The badge is nearly illegible, but I think the model number is 1ST681A. The cabinetry is immaculate and is a cleaner design that most pictures of Maggie consoles I've seen. The electionics could use a little TLC (broken knobs, dirty pots), but it sounds great when I use the aux input to play CDs from a portable. I'm in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and would like to get the unit to someone who could appreciate it. Any referrals would be greatly appreciated.

You would be correct. That's an Astro-Sonic, probably one of those that used leftover Imperial labeled S600 series changers which confuse a lot of people.
The original Imperials were tube models, and made up to 1963, when they changed over to solid-state models, and the name was changed to Astro-Sonic. Later on, around 1968, the "Imperial" name was revived for Magnavox's high-end line of Astro-Sonic models. They featured extra-long cabinets, all the bells and whistles, and a separate tuner/pre-amp and a large but separate solid-state amplifier. Some even included tape decks.

I have a Magnicent Maxnavox My Grandmother gave to me. I don't know the year.
But it is from late 50's-to 1964? It says on it Micromatic, sterophonic, High fidelity,
Made in England. It is is in good working order. It has sliding door on top to expose the stereo.
I am interested in selling it.
There is a sticker on the back that says LOT# 40518 Piece# 040
Please respond

That is incorrect. Imperial models DO indeed have the sliding lids. My 1962 Imperial came with the original brochure from Magnavox advertising the Concert Grand, Imperials, and the Stereo Theatres (TV/Stereo Combo).
Here is the scan of my Imperial from that brochure:

And in real life:

This one has the optional FM Stereo Multiplex Adapter. It was given to me in exchange for repairing a 1957 Magnavox portable.
The "Imperial" line (tube amp) became the "Astro-Sonic" line (Solid State) in 1963.[/quote]
I have almost that exact same stereo. Just the cabinet is a little different. Its not in the French Provincial Style. I got it at a Thrift store for 50 bucks, and its the nicest stereo I have ever had
and sounds the best!
