Curtis Mathes solid state console

by Arranb » Wed Apr 29, 2015 2:18 pm

I just aquired this console and need help finding a needle for the record player. I can't find any serial numbers anywhere. Here is a pic of the console and of the needle I am looking for.

As always Thank you very much for the help ,

Pfanstiehl 854 / Tetrad TCH80 needle.
And please, people, drop the "serial number" stuff, that is merely a "run" number used to determine the manufactured order of a given MODEL number during its manufacturing run.
It's got nothing to do with identifying equipment.

And have that VM changer serviced, it's way past due.

Thank you very much for the reply. I ordered one just now. Can you tell me what is done when servicing them? I like repairing and servicing things myself but just like a car (which is what I do for a living) They are all different.

I appreciate the help!

I'm a servicer, but to type out and discuss the intricate as well as delicate workings of record changers over a screen is not my bag.
It's simply too involved.
But a complete teardown is the norm - by servicers keenly educated in the mechanisms, re-assembly, and alignment.
Anything else is just putzing your way to a heap of damaged metal.
