Rockola 440 Write In / Trip Problem

Fixing up a Rockola 440 I purchase for parts for a friend. I had some issue with the PSU - they seem to be fixed and so now on to the other issues.

Now, after a selection is made, the Write In arm rotates but the read in arm does not engage. I believe some other thing are suppose to happen - like the turntable rotates. Plus the light on the PSU that usually just flashes on and then off (on my working 440) stays on.
I am thinking that perhaps something is wrong with the Wobble plat switch?

Do you have a service manual ? Should show the "sequence of operation"--If not, I suggest you purchase one from one of the suppliers listed above, in "---Where to find---"
Is the Write in arm, detenting ? Wobble plate coil is energized at the same time as the write in hammer. Read out is started via the switch near the wobble plate coil--if not pulled, the read out won't start.
Which LED is "flashing" --?? Should be marked --

Thanks Ron. I'll check to see if the Write in arm is firing and to see if the wobble plate switch is pulled.

I do have the service manual (got it off eBay) - it's been a lot of help.

For the light, it's the light bulb on the power supply. I have noticed every time the write in sequence fires on my working 440, the light flashes on the PSU. On the one I am working on it just turns on and stays on. I have to turn the jukebox off and on to reset it.

As well as the above, i would make sure that the lamp is not loose in its socket, clean write in relay, stop relay and the relays in the credit unit and check that the plug connections are not loose. For the read out sequence the movement of any of the selection levers should allow the wobble plate switch to operate the play control relay in the power supply, so perhaps the wobble plate switch here needs to be looked at or the copper spring is missing or there is a wire loose . The play control relay would also need to be cleaned

Well, I have been at this for the last 2 days and no real progress. I believe the problem is with the credit unit. Some observations:
* The credit unit seems to supply power to the keyboard for song entry.
* 2 days ago the credit unit seem to be working - the problem was that after you selected a song (letter/number) sequence, the write in arm did not start.
* Now whenever I plug the credit unit in, the limiting light on the PSU goes on and stays one (even if you unplug the credit unit).
* You can select a song by hitting the write in write hammer - if just seems as if no current is flowing to the arm.

I am a complete newbie to this, but from what I can see, I would say that there appears to be some kind of short in the credit unit.

From what you have written, my GUESS would be that you have a set of contacts, in the PU, closed, that should be open ?? Ron Rich
