Edison Governor

Hi,

I am restoring a Edison Home Phonograph, I have a set of governor weights and springs, I am perplexed how to attach these, they are reproduction, at least they appear to be. The weights have a small little stub that sticks out. Do I have to press these on or is there some type of washer that can be forced onto them to attach the governor springs.

Thanks,

The weights are either screwed on, or attached via the stub. You probably dont have to use a washer, as long as all are done the same so the weights are equal. I haven't encounted new weights that aren't attached to the spring, but my guess is you could place the spring on the weight, and hit the stub with a hammer to spread it over the hole in the spring. If I was doing this, I would add a drop of superglue to the stub first, just to give it extra holding power.
