I started out with basic electricity as a kid. I was building working electric circuits (battery) at age 8. Some of my later projects with electricity included a working traffic light and a miniature stage with a lighting system with dimmers.

Later, I studied electronics. I started on my own, and then took two years of electronics in high school (they had a good vocational program then), and one year of digital electronics in college. I was fixing record players and pinball machines to put myself through college.

You need to know the laws of basic electricity first. All of electronics are based on these laws. The main laws are:

Ohm's law:

voltage = current X resistance

Substituting E for voltage (electromotive force), I for current (Inductance) and R for resistance:

E = I R

The Power Law:

power = voltage X current

Substituting:

P = E I

First lesson complete.
