1970 Seeburgh LS3 Wont pick up records.

Hi everyone. I need some help with an LS3 I picked up. Here is whats going on. It is on Freeplay and I can make a selection and the mech will scan twice and stop. Wont pick up. If I trip the mech to pick up it will select the record and place the needle on the record and eject. Not quite sure what is going on. any and all help would be appreciated .

Hi Robert,
Got the Service Manual--got my "Seeburg MicroLog Trouble Shooting Guide"--my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide".
How, are you "trip(ing) the mech"? Did this phono have a remote volume control attached, at one time ? Is the rear record reject switch properly connected ( often times these short out at the terminals). Did you check the voltages in the DCC--if so, what do they read (RO voltage must be tested with a GOOD analog meter, while the mech is scanning, service switch in "normal" position) ?

Hi Ron,

I am tripping me mech physically, which seems to me indicates something other than electronic issue as I have always been able to manually make records play on other seeburgs this way. as for remote volume, unknow as I picked this up in this condtion. I dont have those specific manuals. I also dont have an analog meter, but will source one along with your books. I will check the internal volume control for a short too. to clariy when I select a song it does not stop at all on the selection just scans twice.

Ron I have tried the procedures in your book and still this unit wont pick up. What is confusing me the most is the fact that I trip it manually and it pulls the record and then it puts in back in. Any other suggestions on this unit?

ok so I cleaned all of the contracts on the back of the mech and now it will manually trip but still wont pick up when a selection is made. Progress slow but sure. UPDATE. I GOT IT!!!!!! BAD DCC. REBUILT IT FROM 3 I HAD IN THE SHOP. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111
