Hi Can anyone give any details on the earbud speakers that were an option on DS boxes? Did they plug into the auto speed unit?

the earbud speakers must connect to the amp. the wire is black and there is an RCA style connector for each near the top of the inside of the cabinet. it can be seen from the front with the cover opened and locked in place. i have a friend that has the ds100 i was working on and it did not even have a auto speed unit. DS speakers were standard equipment, on all models of the same name. They required a 33TASU-2 autospeed, and function ONLY when a 33 is played.
"Customer complaints" forced Seeburg to pack an "audio jumper" with the later production runs. Installing the jumper causes the DS speakers to function with any selection. See the service manual speaker schematic for more info-- Ron Rich

Ok thanks much Ron. That explains a lot. I couldn't figure out why there was a speaker jack on the side of the auto speed most likely to become active only when 331/3 records were played. Wonder what the history of that was. I guess most 45s of that era were not in stereo and 331/3s were?
