Just aquired a 1929 Majestic radio/phono.

I am having a problem with my new 1929 Majestic model 181 radio phonograph. I am trying to take the pickup off to be rebuilt, but I can't get the screws off. So I tried to take the entire tone arm off. Bad mistake. this is much more complicated that a 1929 Victor RE-45 phono. The Majestic has lots of solenoids and levers under there that make the tone arm turn on automatically when you swing the arm toward a record. I can't figure out how the remove the tone arm. Does anyone have any experience in this? Thanks, Marc.

I just removed the tone arm and the phono motor as well. I'm sending the tone arm to George Epple to rebuild. Hope I can get it all put back together right. Does anyone know if the tone arm was supposed to have an automatic shut off as well as an automatic turn on? When it was together, the tone arm would start the motor when you swung it toward the record, but there was no automatic shut off. Marc.
