Hi...

On certain selections I notice a "click....click...click...click..." coming from the turn-table mech area. Not always... but sometimes... it doesn't seem to affect play... and you can't hear it unless the cabinet is open and you're listening for it.

Any ideas what it may be?

Something I need to worry about?

Usually when that's heard on a Seeburg mech., it is a sign of, lack of, or incorrect lubrication.

OK... lubed her up according to the chart in your book Ron...

The click remains. The best I can determine it sounds like it's coming from the shaft that evidently has some sort of clutch or something that drives the carriage to the left and right... but it makes the noise when it's disengaged (not moving the carriage)... but sure if it makes the noise when the carriage is moving as there is too much other noise going on. I can't "feel" the click unfortunately so it's hard to determine exactly where it's coming from...

OK--I assume that you removed the mechanism from the cabinet to do so--as the clutch area is almost impossible to reach without at least "sliding" the mech fwd-- Did you get oil into the (drilled) camshaft hole ? When it is "clicking" try "wiggling" the brake cam, to see if it will get worse, or dis-appear. Ron Rich

Funny you should mention the brake cam. I did just that and it did seem to go away / become much less "clicky"...

What does that indicate?

As for the rest, yes, I did pull the mech forward and oiled all locations indicated. By saying the "drilled camshaft hole" do you mean the large hole the shaft that drives the mech left and right goes down in to from where it mates with the gear at the top of the unit?

That indicates a lack of, or incorrect lubrication. The clutch is not "falling" all the way down---is it worse on one side play ?

I want to say it was originally... it's about the same now.

Where specifically do I need to lube. The chart I have is a bit small and hard to see some locations..

The clutch fork yoke pin--the clutch member, and blocks--the dog link lever--clutch shifting lever roller, ad pivot point. --cam shaft bearing points.

I pulled the whole mech out this time to get a good look at things. I found a couple of points I wasn't able to get to while it was in the unit and evidently the problem was at one of those points as I have no click now.
