Hey everyone. This year I was happy to receive a Seeburg L-100 as a christmas gift. While I am pretty good at troubleshooting most electrical/electronic issues I am very new to the Jukebox world. As I said in the subject line, out of the blue my jukebox stopped playing all B Sides to all albums. I started reading and so far I have cleaned the contacts on the Tormat board and performed the Tormat battery test. The machine ran through the entire test playing one A Side after another. If I select a B side, the jukebox scans twice without picking anything up and returns to J6. If someone could help me work through this problem I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it or not but when I move the Free-play selector switch to the Coin-op position, the selector just moves back and forth non-stop. I do not know why. Ryan, the most likely causes are a broken wire on the plunger assemble that runs along under the Tormat memory unit.

There are four plungers on that block and all have small delicate wires attached to them which allow the plungers to ride up and down at each tormat rivet. When i rebuilt a Seeburg for one of my locations here, I replace these wires with the braided wire used to connect speaker voice coils to the terminals -but any thin, flexible wire can be used.

Also, check for some slight overtravel of the plungers; when you lean the mech backwards slightly the plungers should have approx 1/8th in of overtravel.

I would advise that the mech not be "leaned" in either direction--in fact, later models have two "stops", that if some "twit" has not re-adjusted, prevent this. Contact block alignment, in all directions, is addressed in the service manual. One thing that is not addressed however, is wear on the "pins" ( or "flippers", on later models). They MUST have silver left and be "flat" on the top. If they have "hollowed out" they must be filed flat, and slightly burnished to a dome shape. One more thought, while here--do NOT use anything "abrasive" on the TMU contacts--they were "gold flashed"--

Rob, thanks a lot for your reply. You were 100% correct about the 4 small wires. The wire running to the B strip plunger was broken off. A quick soldering job and she's back in business. I'm looking forward to getting more familiar with the workings of this machine. Here in Nova Scotia it's certainly not something you get fixed very easily. Thanks again for all the help.
