I have a 60's era sears Silverton radio and record player combo. The turntable motor does not work. Where can I find a replacement or can I fix the part I have? The part markings are Alliance mfg co. Part no 59-336. 117v 60hz . Its a motor. There is power going to it but its dead. Any help os very much appreciated!! the model is the Spanish style model no. 528.31216100.

I think that company is still around--search and you will probably find it--or take it to a
"small motor repair shop"--or you COULD try oiling it wth 20 wt. ND oil--on both ends--

If you have an VOM you can check the windings for an open. If so, it's shot. That almost never happens though. It's generally lubrication problems. Sewing machine oil or Zoom Spout Turbine oil works well on these. Best to take it apart and clean it if you know how.

In 99% of the motor failures I have repaired, the lubricant failed and the bearings seized from the gunked lube.. Penetrating oil allowed me to take the motors apart to clean and relube them.

I had two dead motors due to open windings, and one motor with bearings eroded to the point that the shaft badly wobbled. The latter motor ran when the radio was on too, as the power transformer was in the motor windings. I have never found metal-to-metal bearing seizure.

Use light machine oil for motor bearings and the bearings of the idler wheel and idler jockey assembly. Do not get oil on the rubber parts or parts that contact rubber parts.

Use light grease on sliding parts and most cam tracks and bearings.

Do not lubricate parts used to trip the record change cycle.
