Rock-Ola Power Supply 441 - Repair?

by markymarkuk » Thu Nov 07, 2013 8:52 pm

Hi
Just wondered if anyone on these forums have fixed a PSU in a Jukebox.
I have a Rockola 441 from 1969 and the Power Supply is dead. I plugged a PSU from another machine in and the 441 works.
So I am wondering if I search out a new transformer on line is it possible to exchange it with the current one - Providing all the inputs and outputs match up? Anyone know what the outputs are?
I have a test meter, so is there a way to test what outputs are dead? I'm guessing that the PSU puts out some AC voltage and DC voltages? (maybe the rectifier is broken?)
Any advise or help in this direction would be appreciated - Reason I'm asking about repairs, is I've contacted all usual suppliers and Ebay for replacement PSU but to no avail.
Ive included a picture so you have an idea of my PSU.

thanks

In case anyone interested, I managed to fix the power supply. Looking at the schematic for the PSU I noticed the mains power came into the unit, then fed a blue MNL socket. However, as nothing is plugged into this socket the power stopped here... So I bridged the relevant pins and Hooray the thing works!!!!

for the record, if the main transformer had been broken, my alternative was to purchase 3 new transformers that output 6.3 v, 35 v and 25v, connect to relevant locations inside the power unit, and maybe that would have worked!!! It was just a thought, in case I could not trace a used 441 power unit.

I believe you are missing the jumper plug that's supposed to be there if you're not powering a remote. Looks like you have found a way around it. Good luck.

Hi Markymarkuk,
This problem sounds like the same problem I am having with my Rockola 440. What were the pins you jumped? I want to see if mine has the same problem.
Thanks,
Steve
